What is recycled DoT Type 1?
Fill sand is a coarse type of sand that is often utilised for filling various kinds of spaces.
Unlike mason sand (AKA bricklayer’s sand), fill sand is not soft and smooth, and instead, its particles tend to stick together.
The most significant advantage of fill sand is that it compacts very well, making it ideal for both big and small jobs. The rock particles that make up fill sand may have occurred naturally over time or may have been crushed several times by machines. It has a high compaction rating, meaning it can be compressed to create a firm and stable foundation. Fill sand consists of hard and rounded particulates that can be displaced or shifted.
Fill sand has several benefits and drawbacks. It doesn’t retain moisture, making it perfect for drainage areas. Its aesthetic appearance is more pleasing, which makes it ideal for exposed regions. However, fill sand has one disadvantage: it does not retain its shape over time. Therefore, it should be used carefully depending on the purpose. Fill sand is ideal for use around water tanks, septic tanks, ponds, and other wet areas. It is also appropriate for use as a base for concrete, paving, and paths because it compacts solidly. It can also be used for filling in trenches around pipes.
